Breast Cancer Awareness Mani

As I'm sure everyone knows, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Breast cancer is something that hits home because a couple of women on my husband's side of the family were diagnosed with breast cancer. Even though I have "mosquito bites," I still try to do self exams frequently.

I really wanted to do a mani for BCA and actually had one done the other night, but something went awry and the next morning, I was able to peel off the entire layer of nail polish :\

So I made it my mission to figure out what I was doing wrong when it came to doing my nails. Last night, I Googled nail clean up tutorials and came across a lot of useful ones that also explained other things when it came to manicures. I realized I was using too small of an angled brush to do my clean up with and that it's easier to clean up after applying the first coat of polish. And I have to say, I love the results of cleaning up as you go!

I used 2 coats of Sinful Colors Boom Boom, which is a beautiful dark pink. I can't tell if it's a jelly or a cream, though. On my ring finger I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and stamped with BM 321 using Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Hot Magenta. I was having issues with the image transferring from the plate to the stamper, so I had to freehand the rest of the ribbons. Topped everything off with a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust and was good to go! I used Seche Vite for the topcoat.

I love how much nicer my nails look after being properly cleaned up <3
