Aly's Dream Polish Ballad of Serenity Collection Swatches and Review

Hellooooo everyone!! First off, I want to apologize to Ashley of Aly's Dream Polish for taking forever to get this review done! I've been going through some stuff with my family, then I've been sick and just not feeling the nail polish vibes :( AND!! My camera is being difficult! Anyway!!

I received the Ballad of Serenity collection to review and let me tell you.. it is a fabulously gorgeous collection <3 Of course, I loooove Firefly and jumped on the bandwagon to bring the series back. I have yet to see the movie, though, which is titled Serenity! But of course! ;) On to the polish! Some of the descriptions are taken from the cute pamphlet that came with my package because I suck at coming up with ways to describe polish, LOL.

Reavers is a "muddled holographic red and black shreds polish." As soon as I put this on, I was in love! It is nothing like what I have in my collection. If you're a fan of Firefly, you know what reavers are, so it's weird for me to love a polish that is named for something so savage and horrible. I used 3 coats for opacity, and  Glisten & Glow HK Girl topcoat. I did experience some dragging with the second coat, but I tend to have that with holos, personally.

Companion is a purple satin/matte polish with a lot of shimmer. It was very difficult to get a color accurate photo of this polish :( I actually swatched this twice, on two different days, and I still could not capture the true color :( I used 3 coats to even everything out. Second picture is with top coat, and in person, top coat just makes this polish even more beautiful.

Companion is named for Inara Serra, who is a companion, obviously :P I joked for a while that I wanted to be a companion, just because the lifestyle seemed so glamorous on the show.

Cap'n Tightpants is a topper with pink and black holo glitters. I applied 1 coat over Companion. 1 coat! There was a fair amount of glitter on the brush and it applied evenly. It does dry to a gritty finish, but some top coat will smooth it out! I loved this combo so much I wanted to keep wearing it!

Inevitable Betrayal was another difficult polish to capture the true color. My camera freaked out no matter what lighting I used, and my skin tone does not look good with neon greens! Inevitable Betrayal is a neon green jelly with black and white bar glitter, teal square glitter, small black and white glitter, larger black square glitter, black hex glitter. I did 3 coats here and did have to manipulate some of the glitter, mainly the bar glitter. I thought the polish was too thick for my liking, but was somewhat manageable. I did have some trouble with leveling out the layers, but a third coat seemed to do the trick. As with other neons, this dries with a waxy/matte finish.

The 'verse is a galaxy in a bottle! Beautiful, beautiful black crelly jam packed with holo glitters in a holo polish! I loved this and didn't want to take it off. I used 3 coats for opacity and to level out any balding areas, with Glisten & Glow HK Girl topcoat. This does dry to a gritty finish, as well, so top coat will smooth things out :)

Browncoats is a gorgeous brown holo. I don't recall having any brown holos, so this now has a special place in my collection and I may have to order a full-sized bottle! <3 3 coats for opacity, with top coat :)

And lastly, we have Invite Diamond, another topper, which is a huge smattering of holo glitters and other goodness. This is 1 coat over Browncoats.

There is also a loose face/body glitter called Everything's Shiny, which I did not receive. Which is probably a good thing, because my kids would have found it and dumped it everywhere!!

Overall, I really loved this collection. There's something for everyone, I think! Plus I'm a huuuge fan of Firefly, so this was right up my alley :D What do you think? Are you a Firefly fan, as well?
